Long time staples in my make up routine are the mascaras by Essence. They are really affordable but great quality. This year I loved the maximum definition volume mascara as a base and then topped it with the i love extreme crazy volume mascara, as you can see in some of my eye looks from this year below.
My favourite eyebrow products this year were by Gosh, namely the Eye Brow Pencil in Grey Brown and Defining Brow Gel Clear. Sometimes I mix it up and go back to brow powder, but most mornings I was happy to have my pencil at hand as it was way quicker.
Two more staples in my makeup routine are the NYX’s Wonder Pencil in WP01 Light, which works great on the waterline to make your eyes look slightly bigger and more awake, and the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer to make eyeshadows stay on longer.
My favourite eyeliners are still Zoeva’s Graphic Eyes. A great colour selection, very smooth in application yet it stays in place all day. I purchased another colour this year called Opulence, a wonderful red liner. My go-to black eyeliner however is the Liquid Eyeliner by Essence.
I finally bought myself the Sleek – Oh So Special palette that I have been eyeing for ages and have not regretted it a bit. Everyday colours with great pigmentation.
In my review last year I mentioned the Essence Long Lasting Lipsticks, which I still love. They are great products for everyday, easily applied, good colour selection and all of that for a small price tag. I wouldn’t say that they are actually long lasting, but that aside I love them and carry them around in my handbag all the time. I’ve recently purchased a new one from their Nude range called Come Naturally. I should probably work on the post I’ve promised last year already. 😉
I am also still loving Catrice’s lip polishes that unfortunately left their range and I have no idea why. If you know of any similar products, please let me know in the comments. Another staple is Illamasqua‘s matte lipstick in Shard, it just wears really well and I love the dark red colour.
I am new to LA Splash Cosmetics, but couldn’t help but follow the hype around their liquid lipsticks, particularly Ghoulish. Though it is quite drying after a while, I really like wearing it as it doesn’t need to be touched up all the time. If I learned anything this year about lipsticks then it is that I don’t want to worry about the colour on my lips all the time. I like products (or a combination of products) that allows me just that: Look good without thinking about it. I’ve just recently ordered two more of their Dia de los muertos collection that I should be showing you soon.
I’ve got two Gosh lip liners now and I think they are great quality and definitely worth a try if you come across them in the drugstore. This year I bought Nougat Crisp, a lovely brownish colour that suits the lipstickNougat by Gosh perfectly.
Steffi from Smoke & Diamonds started a blog series called 7 shades of… where bloggers present 7 shades of one colour in one category, e.g. eyeshadow, lipstick, nail polish and so on. Until the 7th December you still have time to participate in the current round where it is all about the colour red. You can share your posts via InLinkz on her blog. I’ve linked my previous posts for Green, Pink and Purple and Blue below. I’ve also posted my favourite red eyeshadows recently.
What a classic red lips are… everyone has to love the way how red lips make you feel that bit more glamorous and sexy. I’ve chosen a variety of different shades and textures, because honestly, there is just so much to chose from.
The Essence one is a great one for everyday, easy to apply and very moisturising. I like the Catrice lipgloss especially for a natural summery look. Red-volution works great for a night out, it stains the lips and the colour slowly disappears and is easy to re-apply. Although Sleek’s matte lip cream is called Party Pink, to me it is more of a corally red. It stays on well due to the matte formula, but can feel a little dry after a while. Lancome’s Rouge in Love is one of my more expensive lipsticks, but I have to admit that so far I rarely ever wore it, which is a shame. The formula is lovely, it glides on the lips and stays on well. Especially for fall, Shard is one of my favourite colours and has been featured on the blog a couple of times. Black Metal Dahlia is a similar shade, but the metallic effect makes it very special.

Sleek – iDivine Eyeshadow Palette in Respect [LE] – Otis Red
I love red eyeshadows! When I was going for more rusty tones in the past like the ones from the Sleek Sunset Palette or the P2 loose eyeshadow, I have started to also really enjoy the boldness of a good matte red eyeshadow, such as Sugarpill’s Love+ and Inglot’s #382. The only problem I have with almost any red any eyeshadow is that they stain. It is pretty tough to remove them and I recommend to keep a good eye makeup remover at hand.
In this look I used Products used my Essence Crystal Eyeliner in Opal Rosy Rush and on the waterline the P2 fantastic chrome kajal in luminous quartz. The eyeshadows I used are a mixture of the Au Naturel and Vintage Romance palettes. Under the lower lashes I used Bliss in Barcelona from the latter palette as a colourful highlight.
The main parts of this look are the P2 – Fantastic Chrome Kajal in 060 Black Granite on my water line and the bright colours of the Sleek Sunset Palette. It was my first ever palette by Sleek and I still love it to this day. Great reddish shades with good pigmentation.

Until the 8th August you still have time to participate in the current round where it is all about the colour blue. You can share your posts via InLinkz on her blog. The For You Eyeliner is pretty old and I don’t think the brand even exists anymore, but I used it very often back in the day. Even though it is old it still works well and didn’t dry out. I still sometimes use it on the waterline to brighten up the eye when creating a blue makeup look. The Essence Eyeliner is so beautiful. I already raved about it here. The 2True Liner was a cheap buy when I had to watch my budget. Nevertheless I think it is a decent liner and I really like the bright colour. Bourjois’ Neon Blue is indeed very bright and works well on my water line. Admittedly I don’t really use the liner by The Body Shop, it was a gift that came with a magazine I bought a while back. The only use I have for it at the moment is as lip liner for my Illamasqua lipstick in Disciple. 😀 I really like eyeliners by Gosh, because as their name suggests, they are very velvety and smooth to apply. Beautiful petrol shade with a bit of a sheen to it. Last but not least is Lush’s Liquid Liner, which is one of my favourite eyeliners ever. I hate the packaging, because I would prefer to apply the liner with my own brushes, but the shade is absolutely stunning!
This was so hard, because I love purple eyeshadow and had way too many shades to choose from. But I went for a couple of different shades from matte to shimmery and from pale to very bright. I love the Amethyst Collection by Rituals and one of their colours had to join the selection. P2’s Metal Eyeshadow is a great colour for the corner of the eye or under the lower lashes when creating a purple look. Similarly, I usually use Butterfly under the lower lashes in a purple look or as a highlight in a more nude look. Violet Black Melange is a great crease colour for purple looks. It darkens up the crease and gives some depth. The same goes for Alice had a vision again. Bliss in Barcelona is an allrounder and Poison Plum is a classic purple shadow you shouldn’t miss in your collection.

I love purple lipstick and I think even my first lipstick ever was purple. 🙂 I don’t very often wear lipgloss (oups yes, a lipgloss sneaked into the lipsticks…) , but I really like this milky soft purple. My go to colour when I want an everyday suitable purple lip is definitely the Essence Long Lasting Lipstick, it is so easy to wear and touch up during the day. You might remember that you have seen the Catrice Of Royal Blood before in my pink lipsticks. First of all, you probably notice that I really like the colour and second of all, it is just that kinda shade that is in between being pink or purple. Fadango Purple is a great matte bright shade that lasts very well. Kooky is the same idea but a darker blue based shade. Exxxaggerate is another matte shade by Sleek which is a lot more vibrant than on the picture. Great for statement lips! And finally OCC’s Technopagan, an absolutely stunning metallic blue based purple that dries down semi-matte. I absolutely love this colours, but I admit I haven’t worn it very often yet, as it takes some effort to put on seamlessly and it wears off unevenly. What are your favourite purple shades?
When I started my eye makeup today I realised that it actually suits the Springtime Grunge series Isadonna initiated on her blog. Bright spring colours combined with dark and blended out shadows on both lash lines and some smudgy mascara. To me that is definitely a springtime version of a Grunge look. I combined it with neutral lips.
