Bathroom Confessions – Shaving #01

Below I have compared a couple of shaving gels and oils that I have used in the past to give you some ideas what products are out there and how they differ.

What Preserve says:

  • Handle powered by yogurt cups™
  • Handle 100% recycled #5 plastic
  • For men and women
  • Easy-to-grip, no-slip handle
  • Long lasting
  • Comes with two blades
  • Also compatible with Personna® Acti-Flexx® blades
  • Handle recyclable after use

This BPA free Triple Razor comes with two replacement blades and has an ergonomic handle that is 100% recycled #5 plastic and completely recyclable after use. Titanium-covered blades feature a Vitamin E and aloe lubrication strip for added comfort, and are easy to remove and replace. Package is reusable as a travel case and made from renewable wood sources.

What I say:

I always liked the way that disposable razors work and felt they were doing a way better job than most expensive razors. From the look and feel the Preserve razor does remind me of those disposable ones, yet I can exchange the blades and re-use it. I haven’t looked back and wouldn’t buy a different razor once this one is getting old and needs replaced.

Queen of Shave… Ooh la la Shaving Gel (150ml/£2.99)

crueltyfree copy

What Queen of Shave says:

Specially formulated for women’s skin, the Queen Of… range of Shaving Gels from King of Shaves have a low-foam “see where you are shaving” formulation to give you a close and amazingly comfortable shave leaving your skin silky smooth, radiant and moisturised. Lightly fragranced, they are non-drying, paraben free and are enhanced with Tea Tree and Aloe Vera to help keep your skin in beautiful condition.

What I say:

I did not like the smell of this product at all, but it worked really well. According to the packaging the fragrance is a mixture of coconut and vanilla, but to me it smelled like it was a bit off. It did leave my legs really moisturised after I used it and the gel allowed the blade to slide over the legs very easily though.

What Original Source says:

Original Source Cooling Shave Gel Black Mint will leave your skin feeling fresh, revitalised and smelling lovely all day long.

What I say:

I am wondering if they stopped selling this shaving gel, because I can’t seem to find it online anymore. It works well and smells very intensely of mint as promised. As it is designed for men, I would not recommend using it in your private areas, it might tingle a bit too much. 😉
