EU goes cruelty-free

Today a new EU regulation has taken affect, which bans the sale of cosmetics developed through animal testing within the EU.

The announcement at BUAV’s website describes the regulation as follows: “After 11th March, no company can carry out new animal tests for cosmetics purposes outside of the EU for products to be sold in the EU. Cosmetics companies can, however, continue to sell in the EU products with ingredients that have been animal tested in the past.” (View Source)

The Independent has a more in-depth article called ”Today the EU goes cruelty-free, but is the beauty industry’s commitment more than skin deep?” (View Source)
